On January 6th, students traveled to the American Airlines Center to watch the Dallas Mavericks play the Oklahoma Thunder. The German Club and German Honor Society sold over 80 tickets to the game. Mavericks fans were disappointed That Dirk Nowitzki did not play and with Mavericks’ loss.

However after the game, audience members were able to ask Dirk Nowitzki questions in both German and English. Students Logan Pille and Ty Cagle participated in the Q & A session and asked Dirk questions. As soon as they mentioned they were from Heath High School, both students and parents “raised the noise level in the building” according to sponsor Jochen Hotz. Students asking Nowitzki questions in German were given autograph pictures of Nowitzki. Pille was disappointed when the person in front of him got the last signed picture.

For more information about the German Club, German Honor Society or the German classes offered at RHHS, see Mr. Hotz, or attend the Elective Fair on February 7th at 6:30 p.m.
