Rockwall and Rockwall-Heath High Schools both competed in the Texas Academic Decathlon State Competition in San Antonio February 27-March 1, if you missed it, but want to know more about the competition, elite writings reviews will provide you with all the details and interesting moments.  Rockwall-Heath High School’s Academic Decathlon team, coached by Kim Blain and Kathleen Shipman, is the 2014-2015 Texas Medium School State Champion! The team also finished 2nd in Super Quiz. This is the team’s first state championship and the district’s 6th consecutive Academic Decathlon state title!

Team members won a total of 42 medals and brought home $21,550 in scholarship money.

RHHS Awards:

  • Calvin Nance: Bronze in Math; Gold in Music, Silver in Economics, Silver in Science, Silver in Social Science, Bronze in Language and Literature and the Bronze for the Overall Individual; won $2700 in scholarship money
  • Connor Sherrod : Gold in Science, Silver in Economics, Gold in Social Science and 5th for Overall Individual; won $1950 in scholarship money
  • Natalie Hopper: Gold in Interview, Bronze in Science, Gold in Art, and Silver in Language and Literature; won $1200 in scholarship money
  • Kyle Butler: Silver in Math, Silver in Music, Silver in Economics, Gold in Science, Gold in Language and Literature, Gold in Art, Gold in Social Science, Gold for the Overall Individual; won $4700 in scholarship money
  • Christian Arms: Bronze in Math, Gold in Science, Bronze in Music, Gold in Language and Literature, Bronze in Art, Bronze for the Overall Individual; won $2700 in scholarship money
  • Hannah Shows: Bronze in Science, Gold in Economics, Silver in Music, Bronze in Social Science, Silver in the Overall Individual; won $3700 in scholarship money
  • Carl Evers: Gold in Math, Silver in Science, Bronze in Economics, Silver in Art, 4th for the Overall Individual; won $2200 in scholarship money
  • Erica Headley: Bronze in Economics; won $1200 in scholarship money
  • Kiran Kaur: Gold in Interview, Silver in Math; won $1200 in scholarship money
